Who I Am
Not much I can say about myself… I was raised in Mississippi, in a small country-esqe town. I had one real good friend named Will, who I've known since I was only 5. My parents were divorced sometime after I was born, so I've yet to know where my father is or what he's doing, but personally, I don't care that much about it, because I am content with my life right now. Back in 2002 or 2003, my grandmother who my mom and I lived with, died of depression, so… By the time 2004 came, we had no reason to stay in her old house, so we moved to another part of Mississippi, far from where we were living already. For a while, I didn't meet many people, and still haven't. The only people within the area I know are my cousins, although I only see them during celebrations at the moment.
Considering I had a lot of free time here, combined with the fact that I had no friends in the area, I started going to forums around summer of 2004 when I turned 15. There were a few I went to, but only one I joined; BZPower. There, I was a fan of LEGO Bionicle for quite some time, and created my first character with the name Malunis, which is where my online alias comes from.
Code Lyoko Forum (2004)
For a while, I'd been watching Code Lyoko, a cartoon on Cartoon Network which was in its first season. One day when I was browsing the off-topic section of BZPower, I noticed a topic for the show, so I decided to check it out. Someone mentioned the Code Lyoko forum, which sparked the interest to join that forum as well. I joined the CL forum as 'Malunis' so I could tell people on BZPower that I was a member there, and to sort of make a name for myself online. I would usually check out media people posted up on the CL forum, images and videos. One music video maker who caught my attention was Kohari (he was only a guest named Kohari Unregged at the time.) He made more videos than anyone on the forum. Odd, Aelita, Jeremie… I was so impressed by his work. At some point, I started using AOL as my form of online chatting. I socialized with some of the members on the site I thought seemed like interesting people, and just random people who learned my screename from the forum. I also made my own topic for picture edits to begin my own small popularity among the people there, since I apparently had some nice skill using MS Paint and PhotoSuite. One was supposed to be of me at the time I did it, it was an edited image of Jeremie without his glasses, with brown hair, and yellow long-sleeved shirt with a few blue stripes. Later, this became my own character, Malunis. I didn't really prepare anything at the time, only a name. In a way it was like a persona, really.
Back on BZPower, I was downloading what was supposed to be an installation for a fan game of Bionicle, but instead it installed a program called RPG Maker 2003. It took me a while to realize it wasn't Bionicle related, but when I found out I could make games with it, I went around the Code Lyoko forum asking for help on making a Code Lyoko game. One member, Cloud, was saying that he was making his own with the program, so we talked on AOL Instant Messenger. The guy was pretty cool, especially since he was the first online friend I ever had (not including my cousin who I talked to once.) I never did end up making that Code Lyoko game, but he helped me learn the basics of the program to get me started, with which I made my first game Anime OQ. By this time, after speaking with a friend I'd recently made from the forum named Rose, she helped me come up with the last name for my Code Lyoko persona, Malunis Utashi.
Another friend I made was very good at editing images, and was funny as well. Her name on the Code Lyoko forum was anODDperson. I got to talking on AOL with her everyday, so we ended up being like online siblings, which was awesome. She showed me an image edit she did of her own character, named 'Jasmine', and I helped make my own edit for her based on her own design, which she loved. Eventually I got to know a couple of her friends, including LGX88/JB, who is equally as awesome as she is. I started speaking to the above mentioned Kohari Unregged sometime after I knew anODDperson/Jasmine, and I asked him about where I could find video clips to make my own music videos. He allowed me to use clips from his own videos since I didn't really have anywhere else to go, so I began my first few music videos at that point. This led me to making many more as I got more resources, and he was the one who got me started.
Another person I met on the forum was BBlueJosh, or at least I think that was his name there. He was a little immature, but funny and fun to talk to. I got him started on making his own Code Lyoko character, edited from Odd. He and I took a little time to try thinking up a name for his character, which would also become his name online. I dunno how, but I ended up suggesting something like Hawkshu, but he just laughed at it, so did I. We ended up deciding on the name Arc, but due to many accidental typos made by me, it was soon changed to Ark.
One other friend I had was Rose, I believe I mentioned her before. She and I got along well, and she was notably the oldest friend I had (18 at the time.) She introduced me to a few of her friends in a chat room once, one was HikaruXANA… She was rather rude, and mean at the time, and apparently didn't like talking to me, so she blocked me without saying anything about it. I didn't know this until one day when I asked Rose why she hasn't been online. She was going to ask Hikaru herself why she blocked me, but I don't remember getting an answer… This was resolved much later, of course.
Lyoko Warriors (2004-2005)
Next was one girl who I think didn't go to the forum regularly, so I don't remember her name there. I believe she saw some of my edited images, and wanted me to help make her character. She made her own edit from Sissi, a character named Elyez. She was a fan of Roleplaying, or as she called it, RP. I wasn't sure how it worked, so she taught me a bit and we did a couple of small Code Lyoko RP's together. I used a few of the characters made by my previous friends; Jasmine, Ark, etc.. Elyez (later named Elise) and I didn't really get very far in our RP's, though she did bring up a good idea to have more people involved. So, after introducing her to Jasmine and Ark, we started doing this stuff together as a group. We didn't do too many things together, though we all had ideas separately which would then be put into action later.
At some point, I got a new AOL screen name, since my other one belonged to my mom. When I was adding people to this new account, I noticed HikaruXANA was online again. I let her know that I was using that as my new account, and she accused me of making it just to get past her blocking me. Because of that assumption, I blocked her for a while. Anyway, back to the RP stuff.
Sometime later, we would bring random people into our RP group, people who were interested in doing RP's with others. Usually they just joined in once, though it wasn't until three certain people joined that we were finally a solid team. It was Chupathingy-42, Chupathingy's friend Greg, alx 00345, and some other guy who knew Hikaru (I believe his name was Xana666 or something.) Due to the fact that he knew Hikaru, that reminded me of how rudely I blocked her before, so I went over my list of blocked people and I took her off the list and spoke to her. When I greeted her, she greeted me normally, then apologized for blocking me before. I thought it was nice of her to apologize so soon and honestly, so I invited her to join our RP's. They all joined into an RP we were doing already, which led to us doing it regularly. I was listening to a song called "Dream Warriors" once, so I came up with a name for our group; The Lyoko Warriors. The series went on until we all ran out of things to provide to the RP's, which was when we ended it and started a brand new one. RP's came and went, and now most of us in the group don't talk very often now. I do miss the good ol' days, but these things happen sometimes… Plus I do get to talking to everyone once in a while when I see 'em, so I don't mind it.
DeviantART/Sonic (2006)
At the end of 2005, the Shadow the Hedgehog video game caught my attention, considering I'd been out of Sonic for a few years (I wasn't into it when I played Sonic Heroes.) I ended up doing a few Sonic drawings and stuff, then making my fancharacter. This led me to joining SonicAnime, a wonderful Sonic forum. Here, I started a few small projects and a TON of fanart. I also started an RP here, where I met a member named Mighty (known as Ed S Ed elsewhere.) He joined in on the RP and he took interest in my artwork, wanted to use one for reference… When I shared one of my project ideas with him, we ended up working together on ideas, which led us to being great partners and awesome siblings.
Since I was doing lots of Sonic fanart by now and didn't really get much attention on SonicAnime, I used my DeviantART after having signed up a few months before and not doing anything with it. Since I looked at a LOT of other fanartists work from time to time, I had some people who looked at my work in return. For a while, I was fine with the way the Sonic games went, since I was just getting back into the swing of things then and didn't really know what I liked or disliked. But once I came across the petitions hosted by Spax3, I listened to what he had to say and I agreed with him on a lot of things. Eventually I became a part of his protest against the current games and their voice actors employed by 4Kids Entertainment. At this point, the current games weren't much of anything but trash to me, and I was trying my best to help with the protest. Me and Spax became friends because the protest brought us together; Real fans gathered for a good cause. That's a great way to meet someone.
Although, things have changed on my DeviantART account since I've joined Spax on the protests. I stopped doing Sonic artwork for a while, with an exception to my own characters and project-related things. Plus I suddenly stopped getting lots of responses due to the fact that most people Watching me were Sonic fans, so I guess I had a negative impact on them. However, that's not a problem for me, I draw what I like. And it was good to speak to my fellow Sonic fans and not have it be related to the games.
New Friends/Drama (2006-2007)
During August of 2006, things were pretty slow in my life, so I ended up looking for any online games to play. I tried finding something simple since my computer can't handle 3D graphics very well, and a little gem in sprite gaming called "Furcadia" came up in the search. I joined up under the name of Malunis, made a simple description about visiting my DeviantART account and tried out the game. It's a simple game with anthropomorphic (animal) characters, where the action is mostly controlled by what you say - Yep, it's a roleplaying game. Much to my surprise, it wasn't that hard to get used to other than the fixed camera angle, but it wasn't too entertaining either since I didn't really know anyone… Eventually, I stumbled onto a location of the game called "Heaven's Eden," were I met a few of the people here who got me used to the way things work on Furc. Heaven's Eden is a roleplay bar with a few activities such as a beautiful garden, and it's surprisingly very safe despite it being in an adult area. I got to know a lot of the staff members and usual visitors here, and eventually got a job in the bar as a tender. Things were great here, but then some bad stuff went down… There's a lot of drama and confusion, so I'll make it simple; I was being harassed and stalked by someone who kept changing their identity and tactics, in attempt to scare me off and even get into my account. May sound completely random, but I know who did it, and I won't bother to reveal them here since it doesn't really matter now, that's all in the past.
Along with this situation, 2007 had to be the most mixed up year among friends. I would rather not explain why, but it's just been very drama-filled to say the least. However, this year was also where I made a turning point by turning 18, the age of an adult.
Currently (2008)
Not much to say about the current year. Things are good, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the new year brings.
Love Life
In the Lyoko Warrior RP's, HikaruXANA's character and mine had feelings for each other for a while, which kind of led to me feeling the same about her. Around February 2005, I finally spoke to a friend about it, and she encouraged me to go tell Hikaru. So I did… And what came out of nowhere was that she felt the same. So at this point, I had a girlfriend. I loved her deeply, and even when we fought, I tried to give her better than what I had.
As of June 2007, though, we are no longer dating, and no longer speaking a few months after. Things happened which I would rather not explain, simply put we just don't speak to one-another anymore. Currently, I am not dating, and I am not sure if I will anytime soon. Sorry, ladies - Maybe another time.
That's about it. If you read this far, I'd like to thank you for taking your time in doing so. This'll probably have changes from time to time if there's something I left out or need to correct. Anyway, thanks for reading!
